    Honestly, every time I see someone talking about 'interviewing' something related to AI and being surprised by the results reminds me of this exchange from the animated series Venture Bros: Billy: '... But those women said they were vampires...' Monstroso: 'Those women were prostitutes. They would've said they were Charlie's Angels if you wanted them to.'

    If we're going with the concept of journalists being targets of this sort of thing, or people making bets based on insider information, I do kind of wonder at what point we start seeing people doing something like out of 'Tomorrow Never Dies': where someone causes specific events to happen because they stand to make a lot of money from it on said bets. Frankly, the whole concept of this being an excellent method of 'information-gathering' strikes me as incredibly dumb. This feels like frankly gambling with extra steps, to quote a phrase.

    Regarding the whole issue with Covid and morons not getting the vaccine: it also led to a glut of said morons clogging hospitals, and thus delaying otherwise innocent people from getting assistance. I still vividly remember when my partner suddenly collapsed and had to be rushed to the hospital to deal with an aortic separation, and the SEVERAL HOUR delay trying to find a place to take them, because all the hospitals were full. Thankfully, since they're apparently part-Highlander, they managed to pull through... though we're still dealing with the aftermath five years later. But yeah, these morons can miss me with their anti-vax bullshit.

    All of this reminds me a lot of one of the events from the animated series Avatar: the Last Airbender, where the one villain Azula grows increasingly paranoid and insane, resulting in her constantly dismissing all of her people for not being loyal enough and thus leaving here alone when the good guys show up. ... Not that there's a lot of other parallels between the Fire Nation in that show and the current United States government, but there you go.

    Regarding the difference between Hernandez and Maduro: as noted, Hernandez was convicted in federal court after a very long trial. Maduro and his wief, on the other hand, was basically just indicted by a grand jury. And you know what they say about grand juries and certain simple meals consisting of cured pork.

    The sad part is, there was an episode of the animated show 'American Dad!' that reminds me a lot of this. Specifically there was an episode (Paranoid Frandroid) that involved a plot by the CIA where people were secretly recorded on the toilet in gastrointestinal distress, with the idea of using it as blackmail material. This, of course, reminds me of that except arguably dumber. Somehow. (Also, how does it do 'wellness checks' through 'optical scanning'? I'm in no way a doctor, but I'm pretty sure it takes MORE THAN LOOKING at... well, literal shit.)

    Regarding the headline: shouldn't it be Kansas, rather than Nebraska? I remember this coming up before, of course, but I was surprised to see it showing 'Nebraska'. Not that, as I'm sure a lot of people would joke there's a lot of difference... and being from Nebraska, it's somewhat true, but there you go.
