Under current regulation, the investigations in commercial spaceflight are led by the company and supervised by FAA. In case it's a NASA certified vehicle, they'll have their own process for re-certifying it for their needs. The "good" news here WRT Elmo is that he's so disconnected from the company, he didn't even know what the fixes were after the first Starship flight. The bad news is, he nonchalantly asked FAA on Xitter to post the list the agency considered proprietary info of his own company and then gleefully admitted he didn't even checked his email before asking. In other words, he's not really thinking just what he's doing and what it looks like.
It's funny how even the people that care a lot more about rockets than Elmo's other BS start to go "Hey, what if someone else from the company but him talked about how Starship's second flight went?"
Mike Masnick is seething once again! Twitter is better than it has ever been! Never before have my stale tweets received so many likes from sexy ladies!
And hope that the cat in question is not in a blender.
Meanwhile, Linda Yaccarino:
Users like posts a million times a minute. That’s a lotta love—and it all happens on X.I gotta hand it to her - i couldn't do it no matter the salary. I mean, not kicking Elmo in the nuts repeatedly for all this garbage.
Truth is stranger than fiction, but it is because Fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities; Truth isn't.It's the same thing with humor. You have to invent a scenario that is impossibly ridiculous. The problem is, that given the right circumstances nothing is impossible. In this case, you never know what lows Elmo won't reach. Yesterday it was pizzagate, tomorrow it might be snippets from The Anarchist Cookbook for defending the free speech.
Them: "If you find yourself in a hole, quit digging" Elmo, starting up a Liebherr R9800: "Hey, you! My former biggest advertisers! You're the enemy of the people if you don't pay me!"
Still waiting for Tesla shareholders to weight in on this. Do they approve this type of hype-building for the next big product? (Not even going to mention if this product itself any good, that's a separate can of worms)
All of it is just an Another Fine Product From The Nonsense Factory.
I really don't think Matthew is arguing in good faith. I'm on my first year of reading TD, so my knowledge of local history is limited, but this level of shameless gaslighting and obvious trolling is impossible to not recognize for what it is. In cases like these (my favorite flavor - pro Space Launch System trolls) my only interest is the question are they getting paid for it or is their life really that messed up.
I wish i could take credit for this one, but it's from Ars Technica forums: "Like the dipshit in charge, that valuation seems high and untrustworthy".
The note from the screenshot did not make through voting. However, Imgur post does contain a link to a Xeet which originated the pic, and this is the only reply to it with likes:
Luke loves Nazis and snuggles CommiesOf note, the reply is by someone with the blue tick. At a glance, this appears to be the average quality of the replies to the man's Xeets in which he criticizes Elmo. "Tell me who your friends are, and I will tell you who you are” seems to be working in Musk's case, his only defenders being toxic assholes or worse.
Somehow i get the feeling that the fundamental shortcoming of the community notes - that it's a voting system that cares little (or possibly not at all) about actual authority on any subject - is exactly why it's pushed by Musk as an end all be all solution. The chaos that he and those he allies with are creating is essentially a mob rule, one they hope to be leading. This system is exactly that - a large enough crowd can drown anything, regardless of how truthful is is.
Outside of my spaceflight news feed all of the usability of Twitter is now gone. Replaced by all kinds of engagement farmers, spam bots and fake pushers. Technical issues, log-in requirement, broken safety tools. Musk himself going from occasional dumb / shitty post to daily nonsense peddling, losing the remains of self-control. My favorite moment was when FAA said that the list of fixes for Starship has been approved and him showing up in replies and asking the regulator to post the proprietary info of his own company, one where he hold the title of chief designer, someone who should have seen the list, and then admitting that he didn't even check his email. It's layers of stupid. And so is everything he's done to the place.
From wiki: "Don't be evil" is Google's former motto. The rest is just boring specifics.
Took the bottom one. Thank you. Will be an interesting experiment to see if i can use it for the same purposes as Xitter.
I could go and look up Elon's promises that Twitter would remain free, but i'm sure someone would make a truly Muskian argument that since it's now X - "the everything up" - those promises no longer apply. And that the new and improved value proposition is amazing. And "if you don't have 1$ you shouldn't be Xeeting". And it's a mart idea in general. And the blue tick they have on Xitter is purely coincidental. Can you tell i'm getting tired of a certain type of people?
Fun little game. Nothing new for me after reading TD for only a year... and 10 years moderating chats / forums of various sizes. "Won" after a few tries figuring out resource management with a score of 1882. Quotation marks because... Well... We all know there's no winning this game, it's about endlessly dealing with the worst humanity throws at the internet.
A few days ago, Musk Xeeted:
Next, we'll remove all the action buttons with their superfluous interaction counts from the >main timeline. Just the view count will show, unless your tap into a post. This will greatly improve readability.First, this will make regular Xeets look like those undisclosed ads. Second, this will make scrolling past the unpopular stuff impossible. Third, it'll make harder to check if Xitter removed your likes from Xeets the great freeze peach absolutist doesn't like, which is something that they were caught doing recently for something called "Vatnik Soup" about Musk, which produced a healthy Streisand effect. Fourth, views, unlike replies, reXeets, and likes, don't generate an easily accessible record of who interacted with what, making it a much more easily faked number. In short, Musk does everything he can to destroy any sense of truth someone hooked on his hellscape of a platform might still have. The misinformation, engagement farming and botnets are all by design, and so is the promotion of the worst people. Musk does this intentionally, while lying and gaslighting.
Honestly, having watched the whole thing, i don't have it in me joke about this. The man looks completely disconnected from any normal logic and social cues, there's no more self-awareness and self-control. It feels like mentally he's way worse than ever.
