  • Fifth Circuit’s Fourth Pass At Same Case Ends Just As Stupidly: Cop Can Sue One Person Because Someone Else Injured Him

    LostInLoDOS ( profile ), 01 Jul, 2023 @ 03:43pm

Trump didn’t host the the rally nor the raid wvent. The clear responsible party is the parallel “event” hosted, organised, and funded, publicly, are the few militia and their followers who actually broke laws that day. Though I would say the governor of D.C. is responsible. Trump asked for extra security and national guard enforcement. DC refused. So the few criminals that acted on Jan 6 did so freely at the direct fault of the district government refusing to secure facilities against a known possibility.

    Take responsibility for your choices

“This demonstration resulted in the blocking of a freeway”
Criminal trespass. Every one of them should have been hit with the highest fines and community service. With the fact of pointing out these self-righteous criminals out of the way: a protest is a public event. No different than a sporting event or concert. The person/company that organised the event is responsible for the actions of those at the event. If you get run over by a crashing car at NASCAR, they are responsible, not the driver. If you get beamed in the head at a baseball game, the team owners are responsible, not the batter. If you get hit in the face with a flaming towel at at wrestling match the promotion is responsible, not the wrestler. If you host a protest and someone brains a cop with concrete, the promoter is responsible!

  • Canada’s Online News Act: The Fallout Continues, As Google Will Block News Links, Other Support Programs

    LostInLoDOS ( profile ), 01 Jul, 2023 @ 03:31pm

    Ignoring Canada

I’ll focus on US news printers. If you want to stay in business stop printing millions of papers you toss on driveways and stuff in package boxes for free each day. The majority of which never get read. Use reasonable cost or switch to add based subscription plans for your web site. And stop with the floating video advert box that follows every scroll eating bandwidth. If you’re site causes a crash and reload on WebKit browsers like Safari, the most stable web platform available, your doing something wrong!

Btw adverts on adult sites are no different than any other sites. If you block adds and cookies and history you don’t get embarrassing advertising. AND If you have wide open cookies and tracking and history, you don’t get embarrassing advertising. Part of targeting in advertising means visiting a porn site is unlikely to change your overall advertising very much, unless you visit them 24/7. What’s embarrassing is in the eye of the user (grow up anyway). And you’re still likely to come across strange “embarrassing” advertisements no matter what you do or don’t visit. Considering my email is full of online casinos (never used), penis pills (not interested in modifying myself) and tampons (I don’t have a slit)… Along with offers from fake CVS and lottery winnings? You’re worrying about a non-winnable issue.

    They fell for it

This is exactly what the laws are supposed to do. Block access. Pornhub fell for it. When you block a state, the prudes win.

  • Reddit Ramps Up Its Threats To Protesting Mods, As Ad Buyers Leave

    LostInLoDOS ( profile ), 01 Jul, 2023 @ 01:41pm

    Suspect reality

When musk ran polls and you didn’t like the results you cried suspect while commentators screamed fake. But when Reddit mods run polls and you like the results you don’t show the slightest doubt. Here’s a reality check. The polls are rigged by time in at least some cases. The English iphone help sub took the poll overnight us time when the majority of its users were sleeping. Same for the modern VHs collectors thread. Where most of the users are in east asia it was taken in U.S. daytime hours when most users were asleep. And that’s ignoring fake polls. You have a right to protest. Even when that protest is detrimental to 99% of the user base. The private company has a right to boot you right out the door. The API users have their own issues I use/used Apollo. I would have paid $0.99 a month. I wouldn’t pay $4.99. But I would hope that being a paid app would drive further development maybe there would be useful features added later worth the cost. quitting is the easy way out. Its ’woe is me’ victim mentality. Goodbye old mods. Hello new mods.

  • Likely Trademark Tourism By In-N-Out In South Korea Has The Press Falling For The Trick

    LostInLoDOS ( profile ), 01 Jul, 2023 @ 01:08pm

    So confused

I don’t understand why they don’t stick around. Their offerings are extremely popular when they are open. The pop up restaurant makes money. Why they don’t keep it open? The brief openings in the Philippines out sell all restaurants besides Jollibee and KFC. Australia showed a ~250% return on cost. This is a clear sign of mismanagement. A trademark is worthless if you don’t use it. And you could make major bank by staying open!

  • The First Amendment Needs To Protect Everyone (Even Homophobic Web Designers) To Protect Anyone

    LostInLoDOS ( profile ), 30 Jun, 2023 @ 10:04pm

    Not so

If you feel less human over some bigot refusing service you shouldn’t. There are literally millions of web designers. Chose a different one. Why would you even WANT to use a bigot’s offerings? I’d walk away at the first no. You are never going to change everyone’s opinions and some people are thick as bricks. Brighten up, lighten up, and don’t take idiots so seriously. The only way a braindead web designer makes you less human is if you allow yourself to self-wallow.

  • The Latest Dangerous Conspiracy Theory: That Conspiracy Theory Research Is Part Of A Big Conspiracy

    LostInLoDOS ( profile ), 30 Jun, 2023 @ 10:00am

Feel free to point out a lie in what I said. The NYT has pointed out Biden’s cognitive concerns quite a bit of late. Swing as he can’t remember what country Russia invaded. Or is it your stance against identification. A federal backed ID costs $6 in Japan. $4 in the Philippines, $2 in Mexico. Under $5 in much of the EU. Free in China. The card stock costs 50ċ in bulk, each. And there is roughly $1 in ink. And there’s no proof of systematic fraud in the 2020 election. Feel free to point out a lie. We’re waiting.

    LostInLoDOS ( profile ), 29 Jun, 2023 @ 02:03pm

    Study the difference

Study is important. And nonpartisan Examples: Misinformation: Biden passed all health checks. Biden passed a tiny subset of checks on specific concerns. Disinformation: The election was stolen. There is no evidence of hacking on election day. No more dead people and non-citizens voted than every other election. While both dis and mis are problems: disinfo needs to be the focus. Disinformation is intentional but usually comes from an actual underlying problem. In my example; the U.S. is one of only a few states in the world not requiring government ID to vote. This is because the U.S. has one of the highest cost applications for ID. Average pricing for a federal ID is $0-$5 world wide. The $20 driver’s license is banking $18 for the state. Studying disinfo can show what the real problem is. If voter id was required and votes were counted on film in public, there would be no thread of truth to hang the conspiracy on. Misinformation is always a lie. Such as claiming Trump said to drink bleach. Or Biden passing medical tests. Misinformation intentionally leaves out context. Rather than come from an actual issue, mis creates an issue.

  • Sony Hurts Its Case Against Microsoft Part 1: No Next-Gen Console Information For Activision

    LostInLoDOS ( profile ), 28 Jun, 2023 @ 11:57pm

    :applause:

Finally a rational article on the situation. We can argue all day about the causes. And I don’t hide my recently turned-to hatred for Sony and the PS. The absolute fact remains that the whole “concern” is bullshite. The concern isn’t keeping A franchise, it’s loosing more players. Sony is long off the cliff. gamers are fleeing the CensorStation. It’s no secret. Big stories about the changes to Devil May Cry, Resident Evil, and the one that pushed me and many thousands of gamers away permanently, the dreadful game destroying changes to Bunny Must Die. COD is no stranger to changes either. And GTA as well. Microsoft is one of the largest cross-platform licensing companies today. Sony has no fear of loosing titles. They’re afraid of Microsoft controlling schedules. Microsoft won’t delay a release to implement Sony’s changes in content. That means Sony releases are delayed. While Microsoft and Nintendo (and Mac?) are released together

  • 5G Was An Over-Hyped Dud. Prepare For Nobody To Learn Absolutely Anything From The Experience

    LostInLoDOS ( profile ), 26 Jun, 2023 @ 04:23pm

Well, you clearly don’t live in a location with 5Guc Those of use that have it, it’s a game changer. In time it will reach you. And you, too, will experience the major benefits of the new technology. It’s not honest, to pout on something simply because you don’t yet have access to it.

  • Broadband ISP Customer Satisfaction Ranked Second Worst, Above Only Gas Stations

    LostInLoDOS ( profile ), 26 Jun, 2023 @ 04:09pm

    Where are these people?

I always wondered where these people are that have so many issues with their providers. Billing is consistent across the nation. I’ve lived in many states and had many providers over the years and only one ever was a problem, one that was a pre-Musk satellite service. I can teach CS in under 10 minutes. Often in one or two. My bills are what I expected. My only wonder is if all those complaining are people who are in the heart of a city where thousands use a single line, or are crybaby whiners who piss off everyone around them. Maybe I’ve been lucky all my life with service. Maybe I’m more realistic in my expectations. I don’t know. If I’m paying for GB service and it drops to 800 on Friday night, I’m not going to pick up the phone and complain. Not when I get 1.2 in the over night hours.

  • Reddit CEO Triples Down, Insults Protesters, Whines About Not Making Enough Money From Reddit Users

    LostInLoDOS ( profile ), 26 Jun, 2023 @ 12:02pm

Not sure what you’re talking about. My comment history is public. I support all speach. It closing a thread to the public is speech via censorship. How well did this bill work out. Again, 99% of users don’t care at all about the api price. If an app goes away, they move on or back to the stock one. If an app starts charging, people make the decision on their own if the app is worth the cost If bird identification and plant identification and coin identification can all make millions at $2.99-$9.99 a month, and you can’t give a value to be worth the price, the problem is on you, the develop. If people won’t pay the ~$5 it looks like most large api apps would need to charge, the app isn’t worth the cost. And a quick look shows that the largest “protesting” communities have simply been rebuilt publicly by the users anew The only be if it the “protestors” got was to isolate the power mongers in their private homes. The rest of us, walked around your tantrum.

  • Warner Bros Discovery Merger Gets Dumber As Layoffs Continue And Company Licenses Streaming Content To… Netflix

    LostInLoDOS ( profile ), 23 Jun, 2023 @ 01:55pm

    Cross platforms?

Sounds good to me. The more places people can reach content the better it is. Most major streaming services licence content via Amazon as well as their own platform. HBO, Cinemax, etc. Discovery has long been on Amazon. I’ve long called on Netflix to licence to Prime. But this is an interesting twist, maybe they buy up channel agreements and become a prime competitor?

The other side of a single face coin

This is the mess the fringe left and fringe right have caused. The story about smart tech is a side story. The country as a whole has become so easily offended and so popular the idea of being a victim… Every person out there is LOOKING to be a victim. And every big name is quick to make a huge show of how they protect victims., race, gender… Maybe, grow up and. It take offence at everything people say. Or do. Because some people suck. So what. Move in.

  • FTC Cites ‘Starfield’ Exclusivity In Response To Microsoft’s Opposition To Injunction Motion

    LostInLoDOS ( profile ), 23 Jun, 2023 @ 01:38pm

    History shows…

Microsoft has never put themselves over their revenue . Office is cross platform their programming languages are cross platform. Their server tools are cross platform. Microsoft isn’t going to kill COD on other platforms. Again this is Sony nonsense. Sony knows it’s platform is dying and is worried without its agreement with Activision it’s a dead platform. Anyone who believes Microsoft would give up the cross platform revenue of a franchise like COD for their own platform at less value is an idiot that hasn’t watched Microsoft over the years. The short period of EEE is long gone. Over all Microsoft wants the cash, not the system.
