  • Latest Twitter Problem: Its API Has Been Down And No Info Has Been Provided

    And…?

Oh no! Shitter has a problem. The world must join reality. Techdirt going to do an article about the Biden theft of classified documents? That were found before the election? And not reported? Or just going to ignore the over use of force for a highly secured facility under Trump control. And the lack of pomp for Biden’s collection?

  • England Makes Gigabit Broadband A Requirement For All New Home Builds

    Perceptions

I don’t really see much of a “thing” here. Most countries at that level, UK, US, etc, are gigabit ready. In the last 10 years, it would be hard, and likely more expensive, to use less capable wiring. Cat5 and fibre are so common you would have to work hard to build below 1kT

  • Biden WSJ Tech Op-ed: More Of The Same Confused Stuff He Said Last Time

    Wow

“We should limit targeted advertising and ban it altogether for children.”
This sounds bad at first pass to anyone who understands how websites stay online. It becomes outrageous when you understand how many ways it would violate the user’s rights. Those of us who prefer relevant advertising are, yes, a minority. But a very large minority. Many of us are part of the tech industry, fully understanding how advertising keeps sites on the web, and free. There are many issues in such a restriction of targeting. Starting with adults. I have an absolute right in this country to conduct my business with companies of my, not some politician’s, choice. If I wish to increase the ability of helping the site stay online with click through adverts, that is my absolute right. I like to support the creative efforts of those sites I utilise. I pay for services I have little use for here at techdirt. Because it keeps the site running. And some sites with in-linking get commissions from my buying. Others get advert revenue from my clicking on banners. Don’t you {generic} dare make that harder. The flip side of this, children. This is difficult. But the decision must be held by the patent(s). Any disabling by the government is a circle back to my first point. The real problem is opt-x doesn’t carry consequences. If a person doesn’t like to receive relative advertising they should opt out. And that should be honoured with criminal penalties for failure. However; I’ve said this before. As soon as some nanny politicians pass a law that makes it harder for sites to track me, there WILL be a class-action filed. Want to place bets how easy it will be for me to not pay a penny to lawyers on this? Or how fast the law gets struck down? What will happen is either sites go off line, or charge. And a few percent become unusable advert junk with floating ads and with-you scrolling images. The only good takeaway here is
“So Biden’s big plan here would actually encourages websites to turn a blind eye to bad stuff on their platform.”
    That would mean less censoring.

You leave out that Sony has, and continues, to put out censored games available on other platforms in their original form. If you buy for or from Sony, you support censorship.

Fact, government law enforcement agencies used services that clearly identify them as such. If you think they won’t side with “ok” if there is any ambiguity, your an idiot.

Except it was granted in 40% of cases. Many appear to be border line but not explicit violations from minimal releasing.

Wake up. When a government law enforcement employee flags someone using a government account, chances are the person gets banned or blocked. Are you going to say now to an alphabet agency?

Police activity is a good start. Look it up. Prove otherwise. Because the numbers are much clearer than the crap pile presented here. See below.

  • Independent Reporting Shows Cops Are Still Killing People At An Alarming Rate

    Hidding the numbers

“during a traffic stop, a mental health and welfare check, or a non-violent offense.
Author conveniently lumps in the single digit percentage of welfare/mental checks in with the overwhelming traffic and “nonviolent”. Body cam and dash footage is available for the vast majority of cases these days. You fail to mention that the vast majority of such violent traffic stops involve actual criminals who commit further crimes during the traffic stop. Such a driving away at high speed, pulling a gun or knifnin the cops, running away from the scene. Etc, Don’t break the law. The vast majority, that is, 99%,, of people who are not criminals and are of sound mind, don’t get killed during police encounters. Pretend and fudge and politicise the numbers all you want. But the author here is ignorant of what they are reporting on, or intentionally disingenuous.

    WTF

Did I miss something? Since when was unanimous needed for anything other than the death penalty? Or even then in some states. The whole jury of your peers idea is to judge you based on the community in which the violation took place. Or does that not matter.

    Speak truth

5G is absolutely revolutionary for those who have it. The real problem is with selfish people. I say this a a resident of a town where idiots voted against a tower, because “property values” the public is its own worst enemy .

Yet the video, both full and edited, show very, very, poor choices that day. One can have been in uniform and understand heat of battle and fog of war, and still recognise identification of target. Or lack of identification What happened that day was a tragedy and a travesty.

He did NOT hack anything. He accepted information of a public interest and published it. Keep in mind it is well documented that trump had interest in pardoning him. Ultimately choosing his political future over doing the right thing. It was not the trump administration that chose to charge, it was alphabet soup that long worked out of his control.

    Why?

Why are you concerned with what the police know? Did you do something wrong or consort with those that break the law? I don’t speed. I don’t drive like a dumb arse that deserves to die. What’s the big deal? Huh? If the complaint is hacks and such, yes, patch. But if a cop asked where I have been and where I am going, have at it. What are you afraid of?

Imagine that, misrepresent what the link says. Closed classes doesn’t reduce “spread”. It reduces new positive cases. They are directly related but not the same. Children have a sub-1% reaction rate. Far lower than the ~9% reaction rate in healthy adults and about the same as severe reactions in total adult populations. If the parents and staff are vaccinated, and the children have a sub-1% reaction rate… explain the benefit of reduced educational performance vs near-0 reaction rate? You fall within the nanny state method. That there is some imaginary good in protecting the dumb. If as an adult, you don’t get the vaccine you’d deserve to get infected. If you get sick. It’s your fault. If you die, that’s a rural selection. One less stupid person for the bleeding hearts to protect with the people’s money. Say what you want about my morality and apathy. But stop wasting money on idiots. And stop putting up road blocks in education! Our schools are already a failure. With refusing to fail kids and only teaching test questions. We are on of the lowest ranking countries in the world and still one of the highest spenders on learning.

Have some sort of love fetish for her, eh? Have to bring her up out of context. And intentionally misrepresent my view on her? Clinton will never go to jail. Nobody hates her that much (even me) to waste that much money. Even if she didn’t buy her way out of her situation, lame duck Biden would immediately pardon his puppet master.
