    So, if AI’s are “individuals” entitled to obtain patent protections under the law, that then raises a whole host of other issues, how does the AI then agree to license the patent to anyone else? If can’t then sure, go ahead and give it the patent,it will sit unusable by anyone until the patent expires. And let’s not even wander into the possibility that of an AI is an individual under constitutional law, is using it to churn out inventions involuntary servitude?

    P.s. I never actually brought up censorship or goverment statements in my initial reply -and neither did you- you just went on about SCIENCE, and made a broad claim about that science had refuted much of what the other poster believed about “Covid, Covid vaccines and lockdowns and masks” you never actually specified what those things were, you just asserted it on the basis of what you assumed he believed as a presumed liberal. My response was to specify things that I “believe” about the above that science has not refuted, I was wrong on one, having gotten the basic claim mixed up with the debunking of some dubious tests of CO2 concentration s you haven’t shown I was really wrong on any of the others or how they’ve gotten disturbing amounts of traction on the on the political right.

    You get one point and only one there. Much of the so called left wing misinformation about Covid comes down to people carelessly using “stop” instead of the truer but more nuanced “reduce” when talking about th effects of vaccines lockdown and masks, to help stem infection rates. Some other claims of government “misinformation” and how the other side was allegedly right are in themselves dubious, like claims that the goverment statements on the efficacy of HVQ and Ivermectin are false, we know they aren’t and we also have a good idea why. I may take the hit on the CO2 issue, but not the other two, Died Sudenly makes more than just a specific claim of an increase in cardiac events, it also ties in claims of wierd clots allegedly being found by embalmers and specifically lays them all at the feet of the vaccine, ignoring that both the clots and events started occurring before the vaccine became available, it also doesn’t help that a lot of the clips they show and cast as people dying suddenly neither died, nor had cardiac events. As for the lockdown, yes they were prolonged in left wing areas, but that doesn’t show intent to cause economic damage to do that you’d actually have to show the receipts that they were motivated by the desire to cause economic damage rather than continue measures for public health reasons, folks baselessly asserting it while fear mongering with talking points about socialist tyranny’s does’t make it so. All in all the misinformation on the right wing side of the ledger was qualitatively and qualitatively worse than on the left and those false claims are still being widely promoted on the right and no attempt at false balance changes by non specifically sayin the goverment was wrong changes that.

    No, I don’t think it is. First of all, my goal is not to talk pandemic policy with lunatics who think they get to tell you to wear a mask, but also if you didn’t know immediately what I was talking about you’re being ignorant on purpose anyway.
    There’s a great deal of ground that that is covered in “covid, covid vaccines,lockdowns and masks”, but lets name a number that are entirely too frequent on the right wing particularly in venues like the that the science has not in fact refuted. Covid is worse than the flu Viruses exist, and covid is caused by a virus Covid is not caused by 5g Covid and/or the vaccine is not part of a Bill Gate/WEF depopulation plan Covid was not created in biolabs in North Carolina/Ukraine The covid vaccine does not contain hydras, self assembling graphene oxide nanobots Covid vaccines do not magnetize people or interface them with the internet of things The covid vaccine does not “shed” You cannot “detox” the vaccine The claims made by Plandemic/Watch The Water/Died Suddenly are not supported by evidence. Lockdowns were not deliberately imposed to cause economic harm Lockdowns were not a cover for the arrests of a pedophile cabal, or rescuing mole children held in secret tunnels Masks do not raise blood CO2 levels Masks do not “activate” viruses Masks do not contain morgellons Masks can trap viruses despite the difference in viruses size and the weave of a mask because viruses travel in moisture droplets. Claims like these circulate on the right wing, in disgustingly common frequency, and are in fact showcased, along side persecution fantasies about election fraud, jews and lizard people at events like the ReAwaken America Tour, which also features a who’s who of GOP/MAGA figures from Micheal Flynn, to Eric Trump, and Dan Patrick. All in all, it seems that in terms of who belives things about “covid, covid vaccines, lockdowns and masks”, that there is quite a bit more that has been refuted by scientific evidence, circulating on the right, than on the left.

    An anonomous source claims that Ron DeSantis has restricted access to his some signing events to favored media channels like Fox news. This is perfectly true, you can verify it yourself but I am not naming my source here, but according to the to the law it would be presumptavly false and defamatory. The fact that a source is anonymous or not has no actual bearing on the veracity of a statement, anonymous sources can be telling the truth, and identified sources can be making false statements. Indeed the person making the claim of defamation may well be able to verify the facts of the statement but is making a false claim that the statement that is untrue. what matters is if the statement can be verified as factual or not, anonymous sources might make this harder, but not so hard that they should be legally presumed to be false and therefore defamatory.mDeclaring them to be so serves to produce a chilling effect on the use of anonymous sources and would result in information from such sources being suppressed.

    Actually got around to reading the text of the bill… This bill, as I said above, is about mandating the independent owner franchise model of auto dealers, keeping them in place as state sanctioned middlemen, the bill applies to -all motor vehicles dealerships- and it’s been in place since 1970, the only place it mentions EV’s is in the newly added paragraph that specifically -creates an exception- to the existing law for Tesla store, which is phrased in the usual legalese avoiding a bill of attainder, that doesn’t name the target of the law, but instead piles on descriptors to narrow who it applies to, so that only one business qualifies.

    You get to the real point about 3/4 of the way down, this isn’t about protecting the interests of Automakers or Big Oil, this is all about pushing Tesla and Tesla specifically into the independently owned dealer model, at the behest of the existing dealerships who don’t want lose their position as state sanctioned middlemen.

    Not as stupid as you’d think… As I pointed out above, given this is the Ukrainian Government, who has legal authority to compel action, asking for it to to be removed from online stores in their territory, that is government censorship, not a boycott, and not Free Speech being exercised If the companies or gamers drop the game of their own free will outside Ukraine, that is a boycott, and it is Free Speech in action.

    You missed the most eye popping aspect of the bill, that it claims to create a cause of action, when a Texas resident has a pharmaceutical abortion, even if they do so completely outside of the state.

    In Ukraine it’s a ban, not a boycott, outside Ukraine, it’s just Jawboning, In Ukraine, this is an agency of the government asking companies to remove games from their platform, at least in their nation, where they have legal authority to do so, as such it’s government censorship, a -ban- rather than a boycott Now, to the extent that those companies drop the game, outside Ukraine in response to the Ukrainian jawboning, that’s their -choice- to moderate content on their platforms, as would be players who decide to drop the game.

    Ron Desantis, should be very careful about what he wishes for, given he’s almost as incapable of keeping his mouth shut as Donald Trump or Tucker Carlson. He could find this bill biting him in the A** very quickly, for example if he made a statement about -white people- being discriminated against, which would be defamation per-se under the bill.

    That assumes that the set pictured in the leak would actually go into production, Lego sets go through a lot of iterations in development, and some never make it out the door, sets have even gotten into production, and then been yanked back because they fail playtesting, and that’s lego’s own sets, to say nothing of ones that also need approval from the rightsholders.

    Fomerly, Twitter Blue Checks were for people who were "“active, notable, and authentic accounts of public interest”" - doesn't say they are only good people, who obey international law or are not accused of war crimes or crimes against humanity, and are not bigoted religious zealots. So the Taliban fits that, so do a lot of pretty awful people all over the world, as long as they don't violate conditions of getting the blue check, they get their blue check... Of course, being awful people, they're likely to post something that would get them kicked off the service, but well then they're gone from all of Twitter, and their Blue Check with them... (Side note, Vladimir Putin seems to refrain from this, so that's why he's still on..) Now, Twitter Blue Checks are for people who shell out $8 and arn't spammers or bots. Don't see how the Taliban can't meet that standard too... So the problem here, with the Taliban getting the blue check is that people still think the Blue Check means something more than "I paid 8 Dollars to get my posts higher up in people's feed"

    You do understand that people buying and using the veterinary formula on themselves was an actual thing, to the extent that feed stores like agway ran short of the drug. The reason why people mocked ivermectin as horse dewormer, was that people were actually taking horse dewormer, and doing so without a doctor’s involvement. And that’s of course not to mention cases like the prison doc in LA who decided to give dangerously high doses to his captive patients without knowledge or consent, and then was lauded for his “research” by the covid quacks like those on parade on the Reawaken America tour.
