I won't even take the risk of photographing my kid without clothes because the law or the tech can always change, security isn't perfect & there isn't anyone who I want to share those particular moments with. Also, no judgement on parents that do take naked baby pictures. There's no shame in nudity, this is just what I decided was best for us.

Care to elaborate on the anti-Semitism that the "left" gets away with? And if you say Ilhan Omar or describe anything involving mere criticism of Israel or pro Palestine advocacy, so help me... seriously, there are issues that plague both ends of the political spectrum, but sowing hate & division is rightwing only. How to say you're a white cis/het male without saying it.... Politics has always been messy with a lot of hate, mostly concentrated on women & Black people. You can't be a good, capable leader if you can't withstand the hate & derision coming from your opponents & need everyone to like you.

Well who doesn't love a shitty law that idiots on both sides of the aisle will get behind because it makes them feel warm and fuzzy inside that they are "protecting" children. Then I have to agree with someone like Rand Paul because he will say no (unless they sprinkle some anti-China propaganda on it). Everyone wants quick easy answers to complex problems & it would be nice if a few of these numbskulls would just say there are no slogan solutions, and the issue needs diligence. There's a lack of mental (& physical) healthcare providers, start addressing that rather than diagnosing the entire teenage population based on a short chat with a few teens. Self important assholes.

I'm not sure Twitter is any kind of a news source anymore. Like I might find a current event being discussed, maybe someone will add a link to a news report, but I'm definitely not seeing just articles being shared by their publishers or hardly any from aggregate sources. I don't really even get many current events, I've noticed those have steadily decreased, as has the variety subjects & different "tweeters" that I ever see. And my feed, in "for you" will just end, like I can't just keep scrolling,to say older or different posts; I have to refresh to the newest posts, which will usually exhaust quickly & repeat stuff I saw earlier in the same order. The steady destruction seems entirely intentional at this point

    James woods?

How did the article miss the Twitter spat with James Woods, which ended with Musk BLOCKING Woods!

Biden looks old because he is, not because he was put side by side with Trump. Trump is only a couple years younger but he sounds like the one with dementia. Trump didn't make him look foolish either, quite the opposite. As much as I would like to see a strong woman (or anyone other than a geriatric straight white man) run in 2024,I don't see any that are electable in the current climate. I would say maybe Pelosi, but she's up there in age & I suspect has some financial "baggage" that could be a problem. I really want to like Harris, & she could win me over if I see a lot more of her raw passion that she showed when speaking about Florida 'racism was good' controversy a few weeks ago. But people still refer to her by her first name, which at least half can't even pronounce correctly, she doesn't command enough respect.

This isn't doomerism or just conspiracy theory, unless youyou just have your head in the sand. State republican platforms are calling for the end of no-fault divorce. They want to make getting an abortion a criminal act on par with murder (regardless of your opinion on this topic, it criminalizes any negative pregnancy outcome & any action by a pregnant person that could result in a negative outcome, such as drug use). There are legislators advocating to ban birth control & spreading disinfo about birth control being an abortifacients & that ectopic pregnancies are viable. In FL TN, AR, & TX (& more) there are organized attacks on teacher accreditation & licensing in order to push qualified professionals (which are mostly women) out of the classroom & bring in conservative men (a sex abuse nightmare) without relevant degrees & model all colleges after Hillsdale (seriously, check out TN governor trashing teachers & anything that scumbag Rufo says). They are undermining academic freedom with rules restricting & banning courses that deal with racism & gender. Libraries are being defunded in both local & state level govt- like MO. Tx put up a floating barrier with circular saw blades which works by drowning & maiming people. This kind of regressive garbage is not just in the fringe & people with big money are pushing to make it mainstream. And I'm only pointing out a few examples of the plans in motion, it's much worse.

Nailed it! Long story short, I had narcotic meds stolen, needed a police report to get them replaced, was told no report unless I submitted to polygraph. Because I was telling the truth & dependent on this med to even work, I agreed. It was a set up to get me to say my meds weren't really stolen, that I was an addict or dealer. And just like you said, the questions are designed to create "indicators" of dishonesty, in a stressful environment, where you feel helpless & unable to leave. The test is conducted in a way to give it "credibility", like having you knowingly lie about a fact (like the number appearing on a cue card), so that you believe they are getting a baseline to compare the squiggles. I was asked several questions about honesty, like had I lied to a loved one or my employer recently. Nothing specific came to mind, so I answered no. But they repeat the series of questions a bunch of times, so I began to doubt my solid no answers, like maybe I said traffic made me late when I actually overslept, and maybe that was within that recent time period. My mind began to look for inconsequential moments of dishonesty that I suddenly feel compelled to disclose; but since the questions are yes/no, I can't explain my answer or why I want to change it. When the test is over, they use the indicators that they essentially generated with the questions to interrogate you & insist you are lying. It's psyops. It's entirely possible in this particular case that detectives used a different tact of manipulation. They could have told him he passed because they figured the suspect would brag to an informant that he passed the lie detector even though he was guilty. Again, using the machine as a tool to manipulate, rather than detect lies.

Hmm, I'm a 41 SAH mom, with no website or business, so basically no profit motive, and my family is at most lower middle class. Not a keyboard warrior, like I said I'm a SAH mom, no time for that shit. As someone who has dealt with severe depression & suicidal ideation, a bout of anhedonia, I speak with authority that eliminating discussion/comment forums because a troll might do some trolling is going to cause more harm than it could ever prevent. Who are you to demand that I must give up the supportive internet community for face to face interactions which I sought to avoid in the first place? Who are you to determine what is best for me? Do you think shitty people restrict their harassment to online forums? Do think redress for harassment, bullying, stalking ect is easier to combat when it happens in real life? Should I be able to sue a bar because some scumbag customer dropped GHB in my drink, drove me home & sexually assaulted me, then left without a trace? Of course not, that's ridiculous. Do you have any idea how useful discussion forums are & the beneficial uses of social media? How do you think young people organized March for Our Lives event if it wasn't for social media. I turn to help forums to discuss my mental health conditions with others anonymously. I found comfort & guidance when I had trouble breastfeeding in online Mom forums. I get help fixing things in my home & on my car because I can't afford professionals to do it for me. Have you ever considered the downside for these types of situations? No, obviously you haven't.

Maybe, in general, the Ukrainians simply don't have the time to spend playing the game long enough to learn the broader plot points, nuance, and how things will ultimately turn out for the fantasy USSR world. I think we can give them a pass for the knee-jerk reaction here, they are a tad busy. This was bad timing on behalf of the developers, though I'm sure they were too deep in the production process when the Russian offensive began to just quit. But maybe it wouldn't have hurt to put out a statement with the game explaining they aren't trying to generate sympathy towards Russia, there's more than meets the eye to the plotline. The could offer up some profits to Ukraine, or model the heroes of the next game they produce to resemble the people of Ukraine. Just saying...

Hmm, how about the harm my kids my suffer because information or content has been WITHHELD from them, (completely outside of the academic realm which should be the first & easiest point to make about how fucked this law is)? Say they are experiencing an emotional crisis, needing to reach out to a friend via social media or find a support group? Or they need to administer Narcan, epinephrine or insulin shot, do CPR or heimlich maneuver, and they have to go through the vetting process on multiple sites before being able to access vital instructions to save a life? Or what about young people who want to organize an event, like March for Our Lives, which will require at least some help from adults for transportation & lodging. They can't be entirely walled off from adults. What if someone mentioned a possible act of civil disobedience, the whole thing would have to be shut down. As a parent it's my job to monitor my kid online. And while I have the right to determine what is appropriate, that right is not limitless. I don't believe that parents have the right to withhold age & context appropriate information about bodies & sex from kids (the idea that legislators have, with parent approval, crafted laws around sex ed that deliberately teach misinformation is beyond abhorrent and a violation of academic freedom IMHO). This law is disgusting.

Both these serial dirtbags plead guilty to 1 count each of civil rights violations for the slushyygate/throwing drinks and splashing puddles on pedestrians at minimum dozens of times (40 known caught on video). The extra scummy stalker got just 1 count of attempted cyber stalking. Both got recommendations for probation from prosecutor, but the judge said hold up, fuck that noise! Judge asked them if the roles were reversed, and citizens chucked drinks at them in their patrol cars or walking a beat in uniform, if the citizen could expect mere probation? I wonder if there's video of that b/c I cannot imagine the look on the collective courtroom's face. Has a judge ever asked such a thing? So the one guy got 3 months, and the other 30 months, plus yada yada yada. If I had the spare cash Id send that judge some fancy bourbon.

I'm pretty sure that incentives are only usually awarded after he desired behavior is completed. Sure, there probably needs to be some upfront investment to ensure reporting requirements can be fulfilled without creating a burden, but that doesn't mean handing over a slush fund to be implemented however the agency sees fit. There should be no grants awarded before the reporting is done. Congress did the same thing with shooting/ in custody deaths reporting for cops, and got the same half ass results. And haven't we let all the telecoms collect their incentives before actually completing the infrastructure the incentive was created for? Does Congress ever learn from their mistakes, or are these the sorts of things that their job (electability) depends on them not understanding?

  • Sep 30, 2022 @ 07:48am

Oh they did something, disappeared the witness, another prisoner, to other prisons under higher restrictions to prevent him from making anymore noise. People don't care about inmates, which I find abhorrent but at least I can understand. What I don't understand is the disconnect where people don't seem to realize that violent, sadistic guards get to leave prison at the end of the shift, still being violent sadistic people. What makes general society think that that guards leave their violent tendencies in their locker when they go home for the day? Prison guards are mostly underpaid & overworked, which only contributes to their inability to control violent impulses. We know the entirety of law enforcement in the US are disproportionately domestic abusers, yet continue to afford them hero status. This makes no sense.

You might be a little confused over how this scam worked. The ISP took one approved Medicaid beneficiary, and then replicated the child's information in connection with roughly 1000 real or fictional customer households, in order to submit claims for subsidy. Doesn't say, but seems unlikely that they actually reduced those customers- if they were even real customers- bills, Yes, those ISPs should be investigated and charged with fraud in both criminal & civil court. Its super shitty that so much supposed "fraud prevention" effort is expended on applicants rather than the service providers. There's always some moron suggesting drug tests for food stamps & Medicaid. Like one person is out using up all the wellness check ups, getting more than their fair share of insulin, or living large off steak & lobster. But it's scam businesses claiming the cash with fraudulent claims, run by programs that have no effective oversight.

A Mom on Twitter was talking about her middle school student's school demanding kids hand over their devices when asked and that staff can read texts sent outside of school hours in the course of looking for whatever they think they are going to find. The mom says hell no, they can go through her if there is something they feel they need to see & instructed her daughter to tell them that if they ever ask to access her device. And like clockwork, out came the authoritarians and old people yelling at the sky over technology. The authoritarians all went straight to protect the children - like this was going to stop school shootings, or there is no other way to stop bullying/harassment. And of course lots of "send your kid somewhere else if you don't like the rules". The things were better in my day crew determined that since they didn't have phones growing up (and we all know how much better they turned out by comparison of younger generations) neither should kids today. It was assumed the kid was always doing something problematic, like using their device during class, which justified the intrusion. After all, teachers used to read notes kids were passing just to humiliate them in front of their peers, what's wrong with a little public humiliation of a child by an authority figure? I challenged someone on how would they enforce such a policy if a kid refused access & directed the adut bully to their parents. He was all in on using intimidation & threats; if the kid wouldn't do what the principal commanded, he felt it was proper to call to the cops to intimidate the kid, implying that the cops could compel compliance by virtue of being cops, they weren't constrained by things like warrants, probable cause, or suspicion of an actual crime. What was really frustrating was how few people understood how this kind of rule could & likely would actually be used against the most vulnerable kids, kids that were actually victims. That turning over an unlocked device had no guarantee that the search would be limited to the texts, which is already super intrusive. That compelling students to relinquish their privacy means losing 1st, 4th, & 5th amendment protections. For some reason the idea that the school simply have to go through parents, like they they have to do before administering a Tylenol they already know the kid is not allergic to. And this bathroom monitoring tech, or tech that prevents students from interacting with each other, is outrageous. How do people with so little understanding of child development, of children at all, get elevated to positions of power over said children? Do the creators of this kind of garbage tech, or idiots buying it have any idea how much anxiety that degree of monitoring causes, which is guaranteed to lower educational achievement? Do none of them know that little kids constipated, some times just from refusing to take time from playing to go? I can't even. This is just infuriating.

I was thinking the same thing, does the law set a maximum per school or location? And are there rules against printing anything on the back (like the 1A)? Or rules about other images that can appear in the background? Perhaps something that might appear to be patriotic or emblematic of the school, but look like something else entirely when turned upside down or viewed from a certain angle, or using Magic Eye (like a poop emoji, something juvenile & obnoxious) I mean, do they really think they can outsmart Gen Z?

  • Aug 20, 2022 @ 02:15pm

Yes I know, lots of those bigots use words like liberty & freedom to appeal to patriotic types and to whitewash their actual goals. Religious freedom doesn't mean the right & ability to freely practice and live by your convictions, which is good thing, but rather to exclude & discriminate against anyone who doesn't hold the same "religious" values in public settings. It's part of the DARVO strategy employed by sociopaths, and perfected by TFG (South Park nails it, along with quite a bit of obnoxious white victimhood)

  • Aug 20, 2022 @ 01:18pm

Reduxx is nothing more than transphobic & Q adjacent fear & hate mongering garbage. They appropriate the word feminism for anti-feminist purposes and apparently think they can attack certain children, their families, trusted teachers & providers, & be pro-child at once. Just wondering, what would make you think I, or anyone else would be so naive and stupid enough to believe such unabashed bigotry & lies? You serve it up like it's some kind of fact. Has it ever occurred to your tiny little mind that this hate propaganda actually distracts attention from legitimate harm to women & children? You make it impossible to educate people by using vocabulary, that none of you actually understand, so out of context & repeated ad infinitum. You will lose this culture war eventually, society will always move to being more inclusive even if it trips over you trolls along the way.

  • Aug 20, 2022 @ 01:59am

I'm dying over Collier County school board's idea of compromise. They have created a somewhat lengthy warning label to stock on the inside of cover of any book (and the digital library description) that was flagged but not ultimately removed. This includes the beloved Everywhere Babies, and the warning is longer than multiple pages worth of text in the book. For anyone unfamiliar, it's a beautifully illustrated book about babies, being loved & cared for by diverse families. It's just prescious & 1 of my daughter's favorites. I can't help but wonder, can't kids look at those books while in the library, as they decide which ones they wish to check out? And can't a child freely share and show their library book to other children, including those prohibited to check out the flagged book? Obviously, a book with a warning label becomes more attractive as kids reach higher grades, so this is just increasing the likelihood of interest. The school districts are really struggling to determine their exact legal risk with all these stupid censorship laws, plus they are getting ridiculous challenges from those idiot Moms for liberty (I can't stand that those women are using the word liberty, which is my daughter's middle name, to fight against liberty) & other backwards authoritarian types. It's one thing if you wish to prevent your own child from becoming an empathetic & caring person by denying them exposure to inclusive materials, quite another to rip that from the children that aren't their own. Frankly, I kind of feel like the ability of parents to challenge materials & opt out of certain- that is sex ed & Black History, Pride month events- should end at 3rd grade. Kids have the right to accurate information about their bodies and sex, as well as perspectives from the diverse community they live in. The school should not be empowered to censor certain approved & appropriate materials from certain kids no matter who is demanding it. People who aren't teachers shouldn't be controlling what schools teach just like they shouldn't be telling Drs how to practice medicine, or what HR training a company selects for their needs.
