Mobile TV, Trying Again

We’ve panned the concept of TV on your mobile phones before, pointing out that it seems like there are only a very few specific circumstances where it would seem to make sense, and even then, possibly not enough to make charging for it worthwhile. Now, the BBC is taking a more general look at mobile TV and pointing out one good thing. Many in the space are realizing that they shouldn’t just be offering traditional TV programs, but designing content specific for mobile users — which tend to be shorter, much more directed (and time sensitive) clips of content, such as news, sports or weather. What they’re really saying is that it’s not so much mobile TV that they’re working on, but mobile video.
