GPRS Support Practically Non-Existent

A writer from the Inquirer has written up their tale of GPRS-inspired woe. Basically, they bought a GPRS phone and simply have not been able to get a GPRS connection, despite a ridiculous number of phone calls to help lines, all of which seem to end up with him being transferred to someone else who might be better positioned to help. Just an example of why all the GPRS hype is likely to be troublesome going forward. Clearly, the service doesn’t live up to the hype at all – and when a technology-savvy journalist can’t even get his new phone working properly, think of your average user who has been promised a wonderful “always-on” zippy fast data connection. It’s a disaster waiting to happen.
