Europeans Willing To Pay Extra For 3G Services

A survey of European mobile subscribers found they are will to pay 6 to 10 euros per month extra for 3G services and up to 330 euros for a 3G handset. Given that the average ARPU in europe is 26 euros, a 6 to 10 euro premium for 3G seems too good to be true. Ultimately is all comes down to the quality and nature of service carriers offer. Interestingly though the survey revealed more interest in services like messaging and video calls than downloading multimedia content. This indicates to me that the survey respondents still consider mobile phones, 3G or not, as communications tools and are more interested in self-generated content than packaged content. I wonder if their minds will change once they actually try commercial multimedia content (provided it works).
