Brain Fingerprinting Back In The News

from the this-sounds-familiar dept

Right after the September 11th attacks there were a huge number of stories about new security and biometric techniques including a rather fierce debate on the idea of brain fingerprinting. For the people who believe in it, they seem to think they’ve found a universal, untrickable lie detector system. However, skeptics say it’s all a bunch of snake oil. For no clear reason, this debate is suddenly popping back up as Reuters is running a new article bringing up the entire debate again. Of course, with a company now announcing a “neuro-sensor” chip that will let them better read brain signals using computers, I could see this issue getting more attention again.
