Government Will Really Really Try To Keep Hack Victims Private

from the that's-very-reassuring dept

It actually worries me even more to find out the FBI feels the need to announce that they really really (really!) are going to try to keep the names of hacking victims quiet, in an effort to encourage companies to tell them about hacking incidents. They’ve explained the various procedures they’ll go through to keep victims’ names private, including things like not wearing FBI jackets when showing up to investigate. Somehow, I don’t think that’s going to reassure many companies.
