Burn Victim Treated By Email

from the who-says-technology-isn't-useful dept

A few years ago, I burned by hand (stupidly) trying to get my dinner out of the oven. Not being quite sure what to do about burns, I went to my computer, and saw that a friend of mine (who I knew had first aid training) was online. I carefully (with the non-burnt hand) asked him what I should do to treat the burn. It worked fairly well. Now, dsg continues his submitting link-only ways by telling us about this story from the BBC about a burn victim in Australia who was successfully treated via the computer (after two initial in-person visits). The family would take pictures of the boy’s burns, scan them, and then send them via email to the doctors who would recommend treatment. Apparently, it worked quite well.
