DVRs Are Selling But Not Fast Enough
from the it's-the-price-stupid! dept
Ask anyone who has a DVR from Replay or Tivo and they will
tell you how much they love it. But they are tough sells.
Its the kind of technology that you really must own to
appreciate fully.
So its no wonder that they are selling and will continue to
do so, but at a slow and steady pace. The key to increasing
sales is simple, the price needs to drop. DVRs cost pretty much
what they did when they hit the market just a few years ago. That’s surprising
when you consider the falling price of hard disks. Once they are available for less than $200 or
integrated into your next cable or satellite box, growth will continue to
be slow.

DirecTV w/ Tivo 2 < 200$US
The DirecTivo 2, a DirecTV satellite receiver box
with Tivo series 2 hardware & software built in has
just been released, with people pre-ordering it from circuit city for 189$. This thing lets you record from 2 different channels at once while simultaneously watching something previously recorded.
