Pop Ups Pay Off?

from the I-hope-not dept

The latest Jupiter figures show the situation with pop up ads is getting even worse. X10.com now ranks fourth in overall traffic thanks to all the traffic hijacking they do through pop ups. Nielsen, who removes the pop up traffic, shows that X10 is really number 116. Unfortunatley, this sort of info is just going to make people think that pop ups work – and we’re only going to see more of them. It’s also scary to see that more well-known sites, like eBay, have started using pop-up advertising themselves. I’ve always been a big believer in the idea that advertising shouldn’t annoy the people they’re targeting, and pop ups do exactly that.
