Web Enabled Air Conditioners

Because things haven’t gotten silly enough yet, IBM is now talking about web enabled air conditioners. Yes, soon you’ll be able to log into your air conditioner from your mobile phone and set the temperature in your house to whatever you desire. I can see how this is somewhat cool, but is it really necessary? The thing is, I really would prefer not to have to call in both the air conditioner repair people and some programmers the next time my air conditioner fails.
