  Not to condone sleazy tactics in anyway, I do have to say that for all their downsides, debt collection agencies are predicated on someone going into debt. For whatever reason, someone didn't pay their bill and continues to not pay. If the debt is in error there are avenues to investigate and take to rectify it. Otherwise, if you are in debt, it would do you well to familiarize yourself with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, which sets rules and guidelines that the companies must follow, and if they don't, then you can bring legal action against them. AND PAY YOUR BILLS! :P

  Out of curiosity...

  I see no reason the jammers shouldn't be made available to law enforcement, or at least corrections (doubtful they would be of much use to cops anyway).
  
  Theoretically, couldn't you just turn a prison into a giant faraday (sp?) cage? It would take a lot of material, but if the business of cell phone use in prisons is worth millions, then maybe a way to stop it should be worth it.

  Yeah, but for normal people who might enjoy it, this is an experience that is nearly impossible to have at home, not something you can download. This isn't about making Weird Harold happy, since that is impossible, it is about adding value to the theater experience and giving people more reasons to not just download and watch it at home.
  
  There is a theater in Ft. Myer's Beach that has 4 screens with about 30 seats apiece, some at tables and other with fold out trays. They serve food and drinks during the movie. It's a little disruptive, but the comfort offered by having extra space and legroom, and being able to get buffalo wings during the movie makes it worth it.

  Obviously you're a jackass who doesn't follow alternative music circles, so your ignorant comment is excusable. She was the front woman for the Dresden Dolls, a cabaret punk group who was very popular in Boston, and has since become hugely famous underground across the country, selling out her own shows in mid-size venues and opening for bands like NIN. She has a lot of integrity and more importantly TALENT. The record labels don't like that combination. It is unfortunate that record labels make disastrous decisions that affect the artists; this is the backlash.

  Your argument fails quickly upon perusal of your example. GM makes a finite product: trucks. Your usage of said trucks as delivery vehicles is not inherently useful to GM as a marketing tool, that helps them sell MORE trucks than they would if you didn't have them.
  
  Digital videos and music are more of an infinite resource, since they can be reproduced nearly infinitely with negligible resources. The dissemination of the data aids in the overall marketing of the bands behind the data, thus making their performance more value.
