  I see the current cabinet as a weapon crafted to damage the United States. Trump does not have the intelligence or focus to put together a team so uniformly incompetent; you can't convince me that the consistency of inability in every cabinet member is random. I do believe that Trump received the choices from someone with intelligence, focus, and a drive to damage the US.

  First, Go After the Lawyers

  Every lawyer on the prosecution side has been acting in bad faith, so it's time to initiate disbarment proceedings for each and every one. That will deter future lawyers from enabling this charade. Next, seriously go after those involved in human trafficking especially when they were trying to hide behind a dishonest illusion of upholding any laws. Lock them up and throw away the keys. We cannot enforce laws by breaking them!

  Has TACO discovered — AI?

  Something is wrong with TACO's message. This might be a different timeline, where he can not only write sentences but also write paragraphs. This is not the word TACO-salad that we're used to. This might be a different timeline, but someone might have introduced TACO to AI. That would make a lot of sense, and AI is good at turning verbal diarrhea int something that sounds coherent. I've used AI for that a good bit, though I've learned to never trust AI-generated solutions to technical problems. (I'm sure there are other weaknesses, but that's just been my experience.) I'm skeptical about the em-dash being an AI flag. My sons have been using them since before ChatGPT in their papers. After learning from them, I've learned to like them. However, most still don't seem to have '—' as part of their punctuation palette. Given TACO's abject illiteracy, you can't convince me that he would know when or how to use Alt-0151.

  bad faith attorneys

  There are remedies for attorneys that file in bad faith, and it's damn well time that we see some disbarment proceedings begin. Attorneys are officers of the court, so their first duty is to the court. By filing in bad faith, these attorneys are committing treason to the judicial branch.

  After reading Judge Beryl's ruling, especially the summary of why the attorneys that folded cannot be trusted. This should be grounds for disbarment. Those that gave in have undermined trust in their profession. They are a blight on the bar.

  Would it take much to generate a Python script to generate random queries on an endless loop? Maybe the script could dip into a big CSV file of keywords. If enough people did that, could we end up with MS thinking that this 'feature' might not be a good idea?

  They literally signaled their incompetence to the entire fucking world.

  I'm old, and I've seen a lot of bumbling government incompetence. This is something different, though. We can't just use a word for zero competence. The White House and the cabinet are filled with people that can only be described as anti-competent.

  Whenever someone starts something with "they say," my ears basically shut down. "They say" does not prop up anything that follows. "Some experts" has the same effect. If the person can't cite even one specific "expert," then the words that follow are empty.

  Mike, Thank you for approaching this evenly, and the lack of accountability for mishandling information in government is disturbing for someone like me. I don't deal in classified information or any information that could get an asset killed, but I would lose my job instantly if I was caught doing what is far to common in our government. That this isn't criminal should be criminal! We desperately need laws with teeth that prosecute anyone and everyone that mishandles our most secret state data.

  Definitely a LOT of Projection Going On

  No matter what I feel about China or any other government, the US government will flip out over any foreign-related entity getting significant access to the public's communications. I don't think they're really looking at China particularly as a threat; they just see foreign-owned entity and assume that the nation involved is going to be just as intrusive as the US government.

  The thing about drinking being relevant got under my skin, and you summed up the wrinkle perfectly! When I read the article, I got wrapped around the thought of what if he wasn't drinking. Would his behavior have been worse just because my gut said it was, and you summed things up perfectly!

  If the big ISPs were actually competent...

  There's more than a little bit of hypocrisy in the ISPs claiming that competence is a requirement. If it was, AT&T and ComCast would be long gone. Not only that, but just think about it. If the big ISPs were competent, there is no way any community would spend time setting up municipally-owned broadband. That people with municipally-owned broadband are more satisfied than those stuck with the ISP oligopoly says everything about who really has the competence.

  When I was finishing school, I interviewed for a position in Louisiana. It was a fun day and I thought the interview was going well. Pay and vacation were good, and then the interview hit me with, "you can have this spot, if you want it. I have to warn you, though. You have to get out of Louisiana before your kids reach school age."
