As a psychic and self confessed anal retentive I can only see what happens in the future if it is spelled correctly.
Which is exactly the conditions that Magnatune ask for.One could argue the $180/yr susbscription fee Magnatune charges to access all these no-name artists is also fairly cost prohibitive. Either way you are still paying for the privelidge.
How exactly is this going to stop the recording industry police from issuing DMCA takedown notices on your videos?
What differentiates two videos using the same copyrighted song (which you've already bought mind you), where one has obtained this (ridiculously expensive) license from Rumblefish and the other hasn't?
I would have thought gelatinous would be the way to go... mmm like warm apple pie.
Why did they exclude the rest of the world when they created this "Action Alert"? Seems like we have just as much right to voice our concerns to your government over this "trade agreement" as if it ends up getting passed it will be forced onto the rest of the world.
By excluding the rest of the world in this campaign they are doing the exact sort of thing that ACTA proponents are doing; refusing to acknowledge the rest of the world matters. This isn't doing much to belay the "typical self-centred American" stereotype.
//off-topic: The "Share To"- Facebook isn't playing very nice today. It's not parsing the article title header and article snippet or thumbnail chooser.
It's all about DA POO POO

Avatar 3d, was worth it.What? Were you receiving oral sex for the full length of it or something? Okay, I'll admit, for the first 15 mins or so I oooh'd and aaah'd at the 3D effects but after that the cliches (sorry, story) kicked in. After 30mins I had forgotten all about the fancy 3D shit and was groaning as I predicted everything that happened in all the scenes to follow. In hindsight I am glad I saw it in 3D though, as it served as a warning to never see another 3D film again. I also can't wait for 3D TV's to hit the mass market, so I can finally replace my 56" rear-pro with a 65" plasma for under $1000.
It's not blocked in Australia as of this post, and Sony actually has the Gov't granted monopoly on music in this country.
"KevinRuddPM Another Olympic Gold for Australia! Most successful Winter #Olympics we have ever had. KRudd"A tweet from our beloved PM. Go on IOC/NBC, I dare you to sue the Prime Minister of Australia.
Wow. Simply wow. I guess it would make just as much sense to Google (Youtube) to simply back out of Italy just as they're considering doing with China (for other reasons obviously).
They certainly can't be expected to process every video manually and still maintain a profit and if a countrys legal system can be either that stupid, biased or corrupt to make a ruling such as this, then it would probably cost them more money to continue to operate there.
I wonder how the citizens of Italy would feel with no access to YouTube at all?
"Michael Geist points us to the rather surprising news"
Umm, hardly surprising when you neglected to mention the topic for the essay competition was in fact "Is it OK to download music, movies and games without paying?". Considering that ALL 80 entries were on the exact same topic it would be logical to assume that the winner would also be on that topic no?
A couple of my favorites...

Just have to say something don't you, no matter how retarded it is. A blip is an inconsequential amount. An amount that can be percieved to have little or no effect on the outcome or result. How do you conclude that what was written in the article inferred a blip to mean "almost no downloading of movies online"? Don't put stupid words into people mouths.
I saw this stupid Buzz thing today when I signed into Gmail. Thankfully there was an option to skip the Buzz and just go to my mail. It sounded stupid, kinda like Bing!
It's worth noting that, although a users account was effectively blocked upon reciept of said accusation, you could still access a page at Exetel that gave you the option of clicking a "deny accusation" button that gave your net access back almost immediately. Not ideal by any means, but I suspect it was designed to admonish the ISP of any responsibility.
btw Exetel is my ISP.
It's like trying to stop the incoming tide with a chain link fence. Every now and then the fence still needs maintenance. Doesn't do it any good though.
Re:
Hopefully Guild Wars 2; it's a far prettier game at least.
