  • Why Techdirt Is Now A Democracy Blog (Whether We Like It Or Not)

There are only accusations in this piece. no data. Please, if you are going to make accusations, back it up with a link, or an example. Hence it is a blatantly political piece.
You are kind of woefully uninformed, I guess this is your first time here and you couldn't be bothered to look up prior articles that could have informed you.
We know for a fact that the FBI and CIA worked with companies like Facebook, Google and Twitter to limit, curb, or crush free speech. It is documented and it was the Joe Biden Administration that did it.
You decry the lack of facts, then you argue that "we know for a fact" without supplying said fact. If "we know for a fact" you should have no problem supplying it, right? And in regards to actual facts, are you familiar with SCOTUS? Somehow they came to the conclusion that this didn't happen in Murthy v Missouri. And to use your own words for what you wrote: There are only accusations in this piece. no data. Please, if you are going to make accusations, back it up with a link, or an example. Hence it is a blatantly political piece.

  • Musk Fires The People Actually Doing What DOGE Pretends To Do

    Rocky ( profile ), 03 Mar, 2025 @ 01:32pm

We know this for a fact because the useless inspectors general couldn’t account for the line items
    So, where are these facts?
No, and neither did anyone else, which was a big problem. Previously, the departments held the money hostage, claiming that $1 mil of useful spending was occurring amongst $10 mil of mystery spending, but noone can determine where, so therefore the program ought not get cut.
Funny how you know so much without providing any facts.
Only by actually cutting the program and forcing those legitimate programs to step forward with the proper accounting documentation could the money be tracked and restored.
Spoken like someone who has no clue how accounting and financial transactions work. Do you actually believe all the shit you consume from the brain-rot media and Musk's drug-induced tweets? I've remarked on it before that you seem to get stupider and stupider as time passes, and every time you come here and write something you prove it true.

  • Funniest/Most Insightful Comments Of The Week At Techdirt

    Rocky ( profile ), 02 Mar, 2025 @ 02:46pm

Think of it this way: Why do rich countries attract people from poor countries? Is it better to spend a lot of money trying to get a deal with immigrants in your country or trying to combat poverty elsewhere? You still need to spend money somewhere, and it seems to me that it's better to spend it on the root cause. This goes for almost any type of government organization that deal with different problems that arise in society. For example if you invest in social security, better education system and healthcare; you'll get let less crime due to a lot of people not being desperate and feeling like 3rd class citizens without any real future hope.

  • Musk Leverages His Unelected Non-Existent Authority And Expertise To Steal $2 Billion FAA Contract From Verizon

    Rocky ( profile ), 28 Feb, 2025 @ 12:44pm

Is it just me, but a Venn-diagram of Musk's and Hugo Drax's apparent attributes seems to overlap almost 100% at this point.

  • Massachusetts Judge Dismisses Auto Industry Lawsuit Over State’s Popular ‘Right To Repair’ Reforms

    Rocky ( profile ), 28 Feb, 2025 @ 12:41pm

    You’re confusing security and privacy.
It's you who are confusing security with reliability. Modifying or repairing your own vehicle may compromise it's reliability which in turn may affect how safe it is to drive - which is what I guess you meant. Security-wise, a DIY'er may end up making a vehicle easier to steal etc although the car industry has been pretty bad at security in general since they have mostly focused on locking down the systems in a car so neither you or an independent shop can repair it without shelling out exorbitant sums of money to the manufacturer for parts and tools.

Why don't you fuck off with your defense of the inexcusable, I'm sure you can find likeminded people who abhor reality somewhere else. And that strawman you just regurgitated, it stinks. And if you really want to see an enemy of democracy, look no further than your mirror.

  • In A Monday Night Declaration, The White House Admits Musk And DOGE Violated The CFAA (Although They Might Not Realize It)

    Rocky ( profile ), 18 Feb, 2025 @ 11:52am

Some of it is actual fraud and corruption, most of it is probably pet projects they don’t want exposed, but that is absolutely what they are afraid of, that stuff being exposed.
Since you say there is actual fraud and corruption, you should have no problems at all presenting factual information that supports your statement. My guess is that you are busily huffing the gas Musk pass regularly.

  • In A Monday Night Declaration, The White House Admits Musk And DOGE Violated The CFAA (Although They Might Not Realize It)

    Rocky ( profile ), 18 Feb, 2025 @ 08:34am

It's not the fear of saving money, it's the fear of where sensitive personal information will end up and how it's going to be used. You don't save money by doing what Musk and his cohort of "hackers" are doing, you use people who actually know their shit when it comes to financial systems. There's also no reason to copy anything, you analyze the data in-place - because the moment someone copies it without using compliant methods and hardware you have lost the chain of custody. Considering how they so far have proceeded doing things the risk of sensitive information being leaked is very high.

  • GOP Is Quietly Freaking Out About Elon; Time For Them To Take A Stand

    Rocky ( profile ), 12 Feb, 2025 @ 12:12pm

Why does almost everything you say these days bear the tint of a drug-fueled fever-dream? If you want to do an audit you use accredited auditors who knows what forensic auditing is, because no matter how much a "computer genius" someone is they don't know anything about accounting and what data is relevant. You also seem to forget something important here, because these "computer geniuses" didn't start with pulling any data for auditing - they started by introducing code-modifications that would stop some payments with no trace of it happening. Looks very much like a first step in siphoning off funds for other uses without anyone being the wiser. But I guess this is what you are now, someone who constantly make excuses for lawless individuals and abhorrent behavior, always defending the inexcusable.

  • The Trump Administration Just Sued IL, Chicago Over State Laws Around Immigration Enforcement

    Rocky ( profile ), 12 Feb, 2025 @ 07:51am

During the campaign season I don’t see Techdirt advocating for voting Harris and now this website is the liveliest I have ever seen it and engagement is up.
Why would Techdirt advocate for voting Harris? Also, engagement is up for the simple reason there is a lot of stupid things going on which will have serious consequences.
Personal I am bored of this Trump news so I am probably going to hold off on this site for awhile. The reason this new is boring is because Trump promised a lot of crazy things and so to see if so a some subset of all he promised is just normal.
You could just have said I'll just stick my head in the sand while the world goes to shit.
Plus he’s blowing up free trade treaties which might be the greatest thing any US president has done for Americans in probably a generation
Why would anyone think actions that lead to higher prices and inflation is a good thing? If Trump had been smart enough to prepare for a tradewar, the economic fallout would be lessened but he didn't really do that, did he? Expect a lot more flailing around with tariffs being added, removed and changed willy nilly when obvious and negative consequences affect the US. Just remember, Trump recently complained about a trade deal that was "very very bad" for the US and blamed it on Biden when in reality it was something he brokered last time he was the sitting President and was fucking around with tariffs and treaties.

  • Appeals Court Says Town Can’t Forbid Cops From Flying The ‘Thin Blue Line’ Flag

    Rocky ( profile ), 11 Feb, 2025 @ 04:07am

Do you see any cops holding their fellow officers accountable for any kind of violations of policies, laws and the constitution? Those few that tries are invariably ostracized and run out of the force. The very few examples we have of cops being hold accountable are for some pretty horrifying shit, and in many cases it took public furor for it to happen.

  • The 24-Hour Reality Check: Musk’s Impossible Power Grab And America’s Crisis

    Rocky ( profile ), 07 Feb, 2025 @ 01:43pm

You don't really know what an etymological fallacy is, right? That you can't distinguish an archaic and offensive medical term from its contemporary meaning is entirely a problem you have. Perhaps we should use the word's "idiot" original meaning that precedes its usage as a medical term, private person, does that make you happy or are you going to persist on being stupid?

I believe you are referring to age here. I am guessing you would prefer people like Biden?
No, it's about experience and understanding why you do certain things in a particular order so you don't fuck up a complex financial system that underpins a government's ability to function.

  • A 25-Year-Old Is Writing Backdoors Into The Treasury’s $6 Trillion Payment System. What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

    Rocky ( profile ), 05 Feb, 2025 @ 05:59pm

Let's say they push a change into production that corrupts data, that's far harder to roll back - especially if it isn't catched immediately and it starts producing erroneous transactions cascading through several systems resulting in faulty payments? Or perhaps the system grinds to a halt because corrupted data crashes it? Have you even an inkling how many transactions are processed every second in a system like what the Treasury is running and how much problems faulty transactions can wreak in the long run? As someone who actually works with systems that facilitates financial payment transactions handling billions of dollars yearly, no one can just waltz in and demand access regardless who sent them and whatever security clearances they say they have. To even enter the premises here you need to have a security clearance (which takes weeks to get), or you have to be accompanied by a guard at all times that are authorized to use deadly force if needed. To access any computer you need to have a physical token that is issued to you personally, plus it's illegal for you to allow anyone to use your physical token. We are instructed to destroy the token if we know we can't protect it from being used by someone else, regardless who that someone is. The amount of paranoia built into how we develop and work with these system seems ludicrous until you realize that if we fuck up it's national headlines the next day and millions of people want our heads on a plate because they didn't get their money. We can't even push changes into production, they have to go through multiple staging points with different people signing off at each point. It's not even possible to pass the first staging point if there's no tests run because there's no coverage and automated security reports attached to the staging request. The sad thing about these guys working for Musk is that they will most likely be considered unemployable by many because of how and what they are doing.
