Vodafone Says Sprint Who?

from the say-what? dept

While we didn’t think it would make a very smart move for Verizon Wireless to go after a Sprint acquisition, it did seem credible that 45%-parent Vodafone would authorize a bid for Sprint, if only to disrupt Sprint’s attempt to get Nextel. However, Vodafone today is denying that they’ve even spoken to their counterparts at Verizon about a Sprint bid — saying the Wall Street Journal was misinformed. This means that we’re pretty much back to where we were yesterday with executives from Verizon still weighing their options and Sprint and Nextel still trying to dot i’s and cross t’s before announcing any kind of agreement.
