Second Life As The Virtual Campus

from the who-needs-reality-when-its-virtually-available dept

While some professors don’t like students using the internet or chatting during class, it looks like a few are going in the opposite direction — using the virtual game environment Second Life as a virtual classroom. The article discusses a professor who uses it in a “Games for the Web” class, which makes sense, obviously. However, another professor using it, teaches an urban planning class. Of course, Second Life creator Linden Labs is perfectly thrilled to give out free accounts to students in the belief that many will become subscribers at the end of the class.
