First UK Phishing Arrest – Catching Clueless Kids Instead Of Real Criminals

Over in the UK the police are especially happy after they’ve tracked down and arrested someone for running a phishing scam. They say this is the first UK arrest for phishing. However, like a similar case in the US, it sounds like this was just one individual who wasn’t particularly sophisticated in running a phishing scam. Most such scams are run by organized crime groups – but, so far, no one has been able to track them down. So, while it’s good that we’re catching some people, it’s unlikely to do very much to slow down most of these scams.
