Mobile Clipping

I heard about this yesterday, but I’m still not sure what I think of it. A company is offering up an application to do mobile clipping of web pages. The idea is that you create “clips” of certain web pages, that you can visit on your mobile phone. These clips, generally, are just the basic text that you need, which makes a lot more sense for mobile viewing – as opposed to downloading a whole page. So, from that side, it makes sense. However, it also adds a big step (and a cost) to mobile browsing, and I wonder how many (non-early adopter type) people will really go through the process of setting up such clips? I’m not sure how it works, but I wonder if a better target wouldn’t be to focus on offering it to content providers to more easily create “mobile versions” of their websites?
