Hutchison 3G Publicity Stunt – And Hutchison Excuses
We’ve discussed the various problems Hutchison has had in launching their 3G brand, “3” in England, and it doesn’t sound like things are getting any better. Besides resorting to silly publicity stunts to promote the service, rather than actually marketing the benefits of a true 3G solution, they’re also telling stories to suggest the UK launch has gone better than planned. Despite tremendous evidence that the launch has been a dismal failure, they’re saying that the corresponding launch in Hong Kong is being delayed due to such strong demand back in the UK for the mobile phones. The more plausible explanation, of course, is what people have been saying all along: Hutchison is having interoperability problems between certain handsets and base stations in their Hong Kong set up.
