Cingular Saves Lives!

In a story that sounds like a made-for-TV movie (sponsored, of course by Cingular), Cingular has put out a press release about how an 18 year old kid, armed with a (Cingular) mobile phone called 911 and saved the life of a store clerk who had been shot. The story certainly is a nice story to hear, and it’s good to see that the guy’s life was saved – but the emphasis on the mobile phone part of the story is a bit excessive. They even mention that the kid often forgot to carry his mobile phone with him (for shame!), suggesting that forgetting your mobile phone could cause people to die. The press release also happens to mention that the kid’s father works at Cingular (so that explains where they got the story…).
