The Latest On Brewster Kahle's Bookmobile: Spreading The Digital Word

from the the-public-domain-rolls-on dept

It’s been a little while since I’ve heard anything about Brewster Kahle’s Bookmobile. It seems like after the initial cross-country trip, printing out public domain books for people all across the country in support of the Eldred case, there hasn’t been much news. It seems, however, that Kahle has been busy, and he’s helping a number of developing countries build their own bookmobiles. India is apparently going to build 30 of them – a decision they made just two days after seeing how Kahle’s bookmobile worked. It really makes you wonder just how much more powerful such a solution would be if the copyright protection gang wasn’t doing their damndest to make sure nothing ever reaches the public domain.
