AOL Ramps Up Spam Lawsuits

from the lock-up-those-spammers dept

America Online is apparently trying really go after spammers, as they’ve

filed five lawsuits against over a dozen suspected spammers. They claim that they’ve tried to target spamming “leaders”, who are responsible for a huge percentage of the spam we all receive. While they’ve named two of the defendants, the rest are still a secret – and, in some cases, AOL still hasn’t determined who they actually are. The article also mentions that MSN and Earthlink are getting more aggressive in their own legal pursuit of spammers. Of course, I still don’t think this will do very much. If a few spammers get caught, it won’t be long until other spammers fill the void.
