Fidel Castro Says Internet Needed To Destroy Communications Monopolies

from the um...? dept

Cuba is known as one of the most restrictive countries when it comes to blocking internet access from its citizens. So, it’s a bit surprising to hear Fidel Castro talk about the importance of the internet in letting people communicate, and breaking down communications monopolies. Considering he runs a country with state run media, and he’s trashing the communications “monopolies” in a capitalistic US, you would think someone might suggest he first look to his own home. Of course, most dictators tend to ignore it when arguments they make are twisted back against them. I guess that’s one of the benefits of being a dictator.
