Defining the Commons in Cyberspace

It appears Larry Lessig has picked up on the David Reed school of thought and is now arguing that traditional opinions on radio and wireless spectrum are wrong. He makes the same argument, saying that spectrum cannot be “used up” and the word “interference” doesn’t accurately portray what happens with spectrum. The problem is (as David Reed explains) with the receivers being “stupid” instead of “smart”. It sounds like the open spectrum folks are really starting to pick up some press coverage for what they believe. It is a little odd, though, to see someone like Lessig arguing for this, since his background is as a lawyer, not a technologist.
