Tech-Savvy Teens Teach Computers To Older Adults
from the young-meets-old dept
When I was a kid, there were always various programs to try to get young people to spend time in nursing homes to provide company for older people. It was difficult, though, because the two generations didn’t have much in common, and didn’t know what to do or talk about. Now, however, they’ve found a common ground. Nursing homes are hiring teens to help teach residents how to use computers. They learn how to email their grandchildren, find information online, chat with other senior citizens, and even how to download music. All in all, it seems like a good program for everyone involved.

Very cool
Funny to go from learning to write on a slate to navigating the internet in the course of a lifetime. What an amazing span of time to be alive in. Great story.

I wonder if this is a program that is being implemented elsewhere in the US. If there was one, say in Chicago, I would jump on it. Very cool idea.
