Tech Companies Invoking Security in Gov't Plea

from the everything's-a-national-security-issue dept

It seems that, these days, any time a company needs the government to expedite something, they’re claiming it’s a national security issue. Last month, when Verisign quickly moved one of their root servers in response to the hack attack against all the root servers, they received quick approval by claiming it was a national security emergency. Other companies are using the same claims to try to push things through. While some of these things probably are security risks, it’s easy to see how the hype around security threats is being abused.
