Movie Posters That Talk Back

from the just-what-we-need dept

Earlier this year there was plenty of talk about about the talking advertising posters in Minority Report and questions about whether we would see such posters in the fifty year time frame of the movie. It turns out you might see one the next time you go to the movies, according to this NY Times article. While they’re not nearly as advanced as the Spielberg versions, these posters are electronic and include an “interactive advertising experience” for movie patrons. At the most basic level they’ll do things like play clips from the movie, but they also have the ability to interact with a person directly, ask them questions, or perhaps change the display to match the particular viewer’s tastes. That’s right, now you might even getting pop up spam advertising as you walk down the movie theater corridors.
