Shopping by Cell Phone? No Thanks
Wired points out that mCommerce has been a near universal failure in the US. People don’t want to buy books over the mobile phone. They don’t even want to purchase soda from a vending machine that way. After the novelty wears off, they go back to digging out spare change. Right now, about the only mobile commerce projects that are working are for things like SMS messages or ring tones. The article also mentions the Exxon Speedpass technology that everyone is suddenly talking about, despite it being out for a few years.
