RIAA Apparently Published Copyright Material By Mistake

from the oops dept

Apparently, it’s not stealing when it’s done by the people in charge of determining what theft is… It seems the RIAA, who is pushing a huge marketing campaign about how taking works that have a copyright without compensating the creator is “stealing”, have been caught doing exactly that. One of the websites they run had information about how to remove some of the file sharing systems from your computer. Of course, those instructions were “borrowed” from a University of Chicago website. The site has since taken the files down.

Come on Mike, get real...

Everyone knows that “it is only piracy if your customers do it…” What the RIAA did is perfectly legal because the intellectual property wasn’t related to music or movies.

Companies stealing intellectual property from other companies? Next your going to tell me that Microsoft steals intellectual property from competitors and then tries to force them out of the market…
