Has The Online Ad Market Hit Bottom?

With all the talk over the past two years about how it was impossible for companies to rely on online advertising to pay the bills, people may have missed that some sites are bringing in quite a bit of revenue from online ads. Places like the NY Times online and Yahoo have noticed online ad revenue is actually increasing. The article talks about how better placement, fancier ad campaigns, and better metrics are helping this surge. However, what the article doesn’t discuss is what consumers think of these ads. In the end, that is what’s going to be really important. If the advertising is too intrusive, it’s only going to piss users off, which won’t do much good for the brands that are advertising. Why is it so difficult for companies to realize that effective advertising doesn’t need to be intrusive advertising?
