Madster Must Track All Songs

from the oh-come-on dept

Maybe I missed something, but I was under the impression that Madster had been told to shut down back in September. Today, however, it’s announced that Madster is now being ordered to track every single song offered on their system. This is, of course, ridiculous and impossible – and will probably mean that Madster does (finally) shut down. Not that very many people used it any more, but you really do have to wonder what sort of “victory” this is for the music industry. They’ve simply killed off one service (which was actually useful) and pushed people on to another service. It’s done nothing to make the people who actually buy their music happy. It’s just made them more annoyed.
