Blocking The Telemarketers

from the turn-to-technology dept

I’ve found a very effective strategy in battling telemarketers. The last time I set up a new phone line (4 years ago or so), I asked that the phone company keep the number unlisted for about $0.25/month. Since then I very rarely get telemarketing calls. However, for those who still do get plenty of bothersome calls all evening long, technology is here to help. A bunch of different companies have come up with anti-telemarketing technologies, but the telemarketers are battling back as well. Interstingly, one of the most popular, the TeleZapper, was created by a guy who used to design the dialer programs that the telemarketers use. Apparently, he moved over from the dark side to help stop those annoying telemarketers.
