National 3G Roll Out in Austria
Mobilkom Austria has launched it WCDMA network, claiming to be Europe’s first national 3G network. Currently they cover 25% of the Austrian population and plan to offer service to 40% of the population by the end of 2003. While many looked at NTT’s troubles selling its WCDMA service, FOMA, as a sign of problems to come, launches such as this will be more indicative of WCDMA’s success in Europe.
