University Bans Controversial Links

from the it's-not-the-links... dept

The latest move of a group not quite understanding how the internet works is the University of San Diego telling a student group they needed to remove links to a “terrorist” organization from their website. The University is afraid that the links, by themselves, may constitute “providing material support to support terrorists” which is now banned due to the Patriot Act. I’m not sure how linking to their site is providing material support. Next we’re going to hear that ISPs are being forced to block access to those sites.
