3G Branding Absurd, Admits Sprint Rep
What’s in a number and a letter? For a while now we’ve been yelling that all the various data services that are being launched these days should be considered 2.5G and not 3G. However, the marketing people seem to have won out, and TheRegister got a Sprint PCS rep to admit that the carriers were browbeaten by Qualcomm, Lucent, and Nortel into calling their 2.5G services 3G for the sake of marketing.
