3G Optimism
At least one group is upbeat about the possibilities for 3G. The Thinking Box group believes that 3G only carriers like Hutchison 3G (are there others?) are working hard to make 3G a success. Since they don’t have a legacy network to support they are incented to drive adoption through aggressive pricing and innovative apps. That will put pressure in established players to compete. It’s a nice theory and makes sense to a point. The problem is that it’s too dependent on new players to drive the market. New entrants are typically great at innovation but lack long term staying power to truly change the market.
