Yet Another Dot Com Making Money
from the what-a-shocker dept
The press seems absolutely shocked these days when they come across a dot com that actually makes money. The latest company to get attention is the online reseller of used books, ABE Books, which actually just ties together a bunch of independent used book sellers into a single system. There’s really nothing special about the idea, and it works really well. Just a smart business idea, well executed. Funny how that works. Of course, if the publishing industry acted like the music and movie industry we’d be hearing about lawsuits and bills introduced in Congress to protect us from this dangerous “theft” of intellectual property…

Used CDs
Does anybody else remember the Record Industry movement of ten or so years ago to ban the resale of CDs?
This was not long after a record company initiative in Congress to effectively ban the “record” button on audio equipment.
Fools.
