Ditching 3G

According the an article in the BBC, analysts in Europe are increasingly urging companies to ditch their plans for 3G wireless data services, saying that it’s going to cost way too much, and not attract nearly enough customers. Of course, the proper response is “oh, so now they tell us…”. The problem of course, is the ridiculous sums companies paid for 3G licenses. Eventually (probably through bankruptcies and other such fun things) these things will get sorted out, and plenty of investors will get screwed. However, high speed wireless data services will show up. It just might be a bit longer than expected (though, by now, that shouldn’t be a surprise).
