Nokia's Hit Factory
Business 2.0 has an interesting article about Nokia’s R&D work, and the slightly odd guy who runs it. Basically, it’s a highly decentralized system that encourages people at all levels to take all sorts of chances and see what comes out. While there have been some failures, the successes (such as hiding the antenna on mobile phones) seem to outweigh them.
