Growing Beyond Its WISP Grass Roots
Here’s an interesting article looking at the success of fixed wireless ISP, MapleNet, based in Goshen, Indiana. The article sounds surprised that the company has done so well, but by now there have been so many articles about local WISPs in out-of-the-way places, that it makes you wonder if those are the only locations likely to have successful WISPs. Of course, looking at the details on MapleNet, I’m a bit surprised. The prices seem very high. Why would someone sign up to pay $100/month for 56 Kbps when you could sign up with a dialup provider?
