CDMA in China Will Be An Uphill Battle

China has strong GSM coverage while their CDMA network is just rolling out. The US is exactly the opposite, we have great CDMA coverage while GSM is just getting momentum. But I’m not sure that CDMA in China has the same long term prospects as GSM has in the US. With one licensee that demands high fees to build CDMA equipment and fewer handset choices CDMA comes with too many strings attached for new networks. GSM maybe inferior technology, but it has global momentum and economies of scale.
