No One Wants GPRS But They Will Want 3G
Back in April we posted an interview with Carphone Warehouse CEO Charles Dunstone in which he stated that consumers don’t want GPRS. Yet today on announcing their annual numbers, Dunstone congratulated himself for having a steller year and predcited further growth due to 3G and picture messaging. That’s the same attitude the industry had about WAP and GPRS. WAP sucked and GPRS would fix it. How is 3G going to solve the pricing, device and coverage issues of GPRS? It won’t, in fact it will take longer to iron out all the issues.
