Eating Away At The Wires

The latest study from Telecompetition boldly predicts that wireless and cable telephone services will steal 30 million customers from fixed line operators in the US over the next five years. But for wireless carriers to meet these estimates they are really going to have to tackle the coverage issue. The hardest hit areas for wireline operators will be major metros with strong wireless coverage. If you live in the boonies, don’t toss your landline quite yet.
