US Wireless Booming
The Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association (CTIA), the US wireless industry trade group, released their semi-annual study. According to their study the wireless space is a bright spot in the US telecom slump with revenues up 22.6%. Data revenues more than doubled in 2001 from 2000 and wireless subscribers used more minutes in the last half of 2001 than all of 2000. Clearly wireless has arrived. But have we caught up with Europe and if so does that mean growth will be flat from here on out? Maybe in terms of voice, but data, particularly SMS, still have plenty of room to grow here.
