Hyping .NET

from the um.--wow. dept

I’ve seen lots of hype about .NET and web services and plenty of other stuff, but Salon is running an article that is so gushingly full of praise for .NET that it’s almost scary. The writer does at least bring up a few of the points made by people concerned about .NET, but brushes them off just as quickly. The more I understand about web services and things like .NET, the more useful I can see them becoming. However, the excessive praise dumped on it in this article is a bit too much. I’m sorry, but the introduction of .NET is unlikely to be remembered along with the works of Gutenberg and Babbage. I guess it’s not really a surprise to find out that the author is working on not one, but two books about .NET. Might as well get the hype rolling early so he’ll get more sales.
